Hi…I’m Gavin Birtles. I am a Technical Surveyor at Gradus and I have worked here for over 28 years.
What do you like about your role and the industry you work in?
I enjoy the role because the variety of projects that come about, involves meeting new and familiar customers & site contacts daily. I attend these sites to survey and measure works for a vast range of our Accessories products, including Stair Edgings, Entrance Matting and Floor Trims. I always aim to provide the best service for our customers with high attention to detail, accuracy, and meeting customers timescales. Also, knowing that our products are making a difference to the safety & design of building interiors really drives me.
What challenges are driving your job role?
Competition is high within the Flooring Accessories market, so providing excellent survey, measure work and customer service consistently is key to developing projects with customers and playing our part in delivering the overall success of the building.
What is your favourite Gradus solution and why?
XT Stair Edgings are my favourite product as they are the most advanced Stair Edging within the marketplace with its extended insert design that wraps around the leading edge of the step providing advanced slip-resistance and safety on stairs. Plus, the insert is mechanically fixed into its channel, with no adhesives used! This makes it excellent for using in areas where cleaning is a priority.
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I enjoy playing 5-a-side football weekly with colleagues and friends, spending quality time with family and watching all forms of sport - especially F1! I also enjoy playing golf and I am a member of the Gradus Golf Society that meet up eight times a year. A group of 20 people play each time, and we play a different gold course every time around several counties. We play Stableford competition golf and I have won 2nd prize before and I’m aiming to get the 1st prize top spot soon!
