At Gradus we recognise the importance of sustainable development within our business and are dedicated to controlling and minimising the effects we have on the environment.

We have a firm set of environmental objectives providing a dedicated approach to sustainability in areas such as legislation, waste, carbon emissions, increased use of recycled materials and ongoing internal training and practices.

Fully accredited to ISO 14001:2015 we can demonstrate these processes and evaluate any environmental impacts that may result from our activities, products and services.

At Gradus we will, therefore, continue to improve our environmental performance in line with our 2025 aspirations to be recognised as a world class company.

Gradus are a core member of UK Sustainable Flooring Alliance (UKSFA)

UKSFA is an independent non-profit membership association working with manufacturers, distributors, contractors, retailers, fitters and the waste sector (recyclers and reuse organisations) to divert flooring waste from landfill.  Set up in 2007 by industry leaders, UKSFA works to foster strategic collaborations and networks to develop viable solutions originally for textile flooring waste, but now also for resilient flooring waste.

BRE’s Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM)

The BRE methodology assesses the environmental impact of building products over their full lifecycle, taking into account their extraction, processing, use, maintenance and eventual disposal. The environmental ratings range from A+, the best environmental performance and least environmental impact, to E, the worst performance and highest impact.

An increasing number of specifiers are demanding flooring with high environmental ratings, as this equates to more credits in BRE’s Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), which provides environmental performance labels for buildings.

All new-build government buildings and schools must now carry BREEAM labels, which means specifiers are looking for flooring with high BRE ratings that will contribute to a building’s overall score.

The ratings give flooring contractors an excellent choice of product, especially in the schools market, where BREEAM labels are now compulsory for new buildings.

Having worked successfully with BRE Global, Gradus carpet ranges now carry environmental performance ratings for tile, impervious and broadloom for installation in education, healthcare, retail, office or multi-residential domestic buildings, such as care homes and university accommodation.
