Gradus Matting Creates Vision of Safety at the Oracle

Barrier matting specialist Gradus has supplied and installed one of its largest mats to provide superior safety for shoppers and staff at The Oracle in Reading, the region’s premier shopping destination.

Opened in 1999, The Oracle is one of the most popular shopping facilities in the region, boasting over 115 stores, and was winner of the British Council of Shopping Centres and International Council of Shopping Centres ‘Best New Shopping Centre Award’ in 2001, in recognition of its excellence in design and planning, as well as performance and trading potential.

Ideal for interior locations subject to heavy foot and wheeled traffic, Gradus Esplanade Plus barrier matting, with Indigo wipers from the Boulevard 6000 collection, was installed at the centre’s Holybrook entrance, replacing the original matting system.

Following the success of the first installation, several more mats are due to be installed throughout the shopping centre, and the size of existing matwells is being increased, to ensure optimum moisture reduction and dirt removal in order to limit the risk of slips and trips caused by adjacent wet or soiled surfaces.

The Esplanade Plus barrier matting system from Gradus is available in two thicknesses (12mm and 18mm), open or closed construction and is available with a choice of wipers from the Boulevard 6000 and 5000 secondary barrier carpet ranges, enabling a fully co-ordinated SystemMatic approach.
