Contract interiors specialist Gradus has re-coloured its Freeway carpet range, offering contractors, designers and specifiers a more contemporary choice of colours in line with current design trends and customer demand. Launched in 2000, Freeway has always been a very popular choice for healthcare and education environments.

Ten new colours have been introduced to the Freeway collection. These new colourways include two naturals (Butterscotch and Sultana Spice), two greys (Iron Tonic and Carbon Haze) and three new shades of green (Misty Jade, Forest Fern and Black Olive). A new terracotta (Burnt Orange), red (Mulled Wine) and blue (Indigo blue) have also been added to the range.

Freeway is available in cut pile for underfoot comfort making it ideal for care homes and student accommodation, plus it can be co-ordinated with the Syrah range of loop pile carpet for added design versatility. In addition, Freeway is particularly suitable for use in areas prone to spillages thanks to its polypropylene yarn, which is easy to clean and maintain.

Available in both broadloom and impervious, the range is also available with full LRV (light reflectance value) test reports to help specifiers achieve visual contrast with adjacent surfaces, in line with Disability Discrimination Act guidelines.

Karen Burman, Designer for Gradus Floorcoverings says: “Gradus has over 20 years experience of supplying flooring to the healthcare and education sectors. This knowledge and expertise means we are able to respond quickly to changes in the market and develop floorcovering solutions to suit.

“Not only is the healthcare sector increasingly design conscious, it is also becoming more important within care homes and mental health facilities that carpet patterns appear less contrasting, as this can confuse patients suffering from dementia. Hence, Freeway’s design is less pronounced in the new range and the new colourways appear slightly plainer, which is also in keeping with current style trends.

“Freeway’s more balanced and contemporary colour palette is also suited to the education sector, particularly in student accommodation where modern aesthetics are becoming an essential element of building design. It has recently been specified for the student accommodation at Brunel University, thanks to its durability and modern design.”

The Freeway collection also offers six colours from the existing range, including Old Stone, Cherry Red, Fern Blue and Lavender Haze, as well as Sea Breeze and Thunder Cloud.

Gradus offers a comprehensive range of floorcoverings, including cork flooring and loose lay vinyl as well as printed, polypropylene and nylon carpets.
